Sony HDW 750 HDCam cameras have been used a number times in the last year on high profile projects, but due to the high cost of the equipment and in particular post production, they are only suitable for high budget productions. Many television and independent producers are steering clear of the format because of funding limitations,
- Hopefully this situation is about to change in early 2008 with the introduction of the new Sony 2/3rd chip 4-2-2 colour space PDW 700 XDCam camera which records media to removable disk and at full raster 1920*1080 picture files, this together with the latest HD lenses from Fujinon and Canon will bring true high definition pictures to location shoots and more importantly, freelance camera rates much the same as Digital Betacam is today.
- Over the past two years substantial investment has been made in new cameras, lenses and post production equipment, allowing us to bring our edit and post facilities in house with Apple Final Cut Pro and the Decklink range of video cards, it is most important with High Definition to have a solid workflow and frame rates checked and confirmed prior to the commencement of the shoot.
